Yadkin Riverkeeper is a nonprofit, membership organization whose mission is to protect and enhance the Yadkin Pee Dee River basin through education, advocacy, and action. Our overarching goals are to ensure clean drinking water and a healthy, safe River for the benefit of all the basin’s nearly 3 million residents. Educates about the importance of the River to our region’s economy and environment through organized River paddles and educational events throughout the year. YRK also monitors and samples the River and Lakes for pollution and alerts officials and the public about threats to the River and Lakes.

As a community, we all want to live in a clean city, but it takes effort from everyone to make that a reality. We can make our city more beautiful and sustainable by participating in any of these programs. Whether it’s by cleaning up our streets or planting more trees, we can all work together to create a cleaner, more vibrant city for everyone to enjoy.

In 2017 Yoga teachers and Wellness Practitioners in Salisbury and Rowan County came together with a vision to create a space for wellness classes that are affordable and accessible to everyone. We are in the heart of historic Salisbury, NC, in the old Flowers Bakery Building. Our mission is to help build a healthy community by giving individuals access to affordable yoga classes, professional wellness services, mindfulness education, food education, and arts appreciation. Our belief is that once individuals are healthy and able to carve out a-life-worth-living for themselves, the entire community reaps the benefits.

Working in partnership with other agencies and organizations, the Rowan Soil and Water Conservation District's mission is to provide its citizens with the technical assistance and financial resources to carry out scientifically sound, sustainable practices that conserve the soil, water, and related resources of Rowan County. The education of our citizens in the wise use of natural resources will be a priority of this District.

NC Choices, an initiative of the Center for Environmental Farming Systems in collaboration with NC Cooperative Extension, promotes sustainable food systems through the advancement of the local, niche, and pasture-based meat supply chain in North Carolina. NC Choices provides information, technical assistance, educational programming, and networking opportunities for farmers, extension agents, meat processors, buyers, distributors, and consumers.

The Pedal Factory began in Salisbury, NC, in 2015, with a vision of including all individuals as potential cyclists. We believe everyone should have access to a bicycle, regardless of age, income, or background. Knowing this area is a great place to ride a bike - for transportation and daily commutes, recreation and fun, or just improved health and fitness - we also recognize the benefits to the community as a whole when more of its citizens are on two wheels.
